Guided Steelhead Fishing on the Salmon River
If you’re looking for steelhead fishing in Salmon, Idaho, you’re in the right place. We guide professional steelhead trips on the legendary Salmon River near Salmon, Idaho, targeting both the spring and fall runs.
These fish complete one of the longest migrations in North America — traveling nearly 800 miles from the Pacific Ocean back to Idaho’s mountain headwaters. When you hook into one here, you’re connected to one of the most incredible migrations in the natural world.
Spring Steelhead Season
Late February/Early March – Mid-April
When the river opens after winter, spring steelhead season begins. Early fishing focuses on proven winter holding water where fish concentrate after the colder months. As March turns to April and water temperatures rise, fish become more active and opportunities expand.
Longer days, improving weather, and consistent action make spring one of the best times to target Idaho steelhead on the Salmon River.
Fall Steelhead Season
Mid-October – Early December
Fall steelhead arrive powerful and aggressive after their upriver migration. Cool temperatures, lighter pressure, and stunning canyon scenery make this a prime time to fish. From mid-October until ice forms, we target hard-fighting fish in classic holding water throughout the Salmon River corridor.
